Judges

The book of Judges gives the history of people who are in the promised land but far from God. It has a revolving cycle of rebellion leading to ruin which God resolves but sending a rescuer judge but then the resulting rest is soon broken again by further rebellion. The book is a lesson in what happens when we stop looking to God and rely on other things in place of God, but also a lesson in God’s continued faithfulness to his promise.
